From Builder to Finished: Interior Design Transformation

More than a decade after building their new home, our clients partnered with us to transform their space into a personalized, custom-designed residence that truly reflects their lifestyle and aesthetic. Over the course of eight years, we collaborated on a comprehensive residential interior design project that reimagined nine rooms, blending contemporary design with warm, livable elegance.

Our goal was to enhance both style and functionality while creating inviting spaces that encourage connection and everyday comfort. Through thoughtful space planning, architectural enhancements, and custom furnishings, we elevated the home from a standard builder-grade interior to a refined, cohesive luxury interior design.

In the dramatic two-story family room, we introduced architectural detailing with custom wainscot trim on the upper level to create visual interest and a more intimate atmosphere. The fireplace was redesigned and expanded to become a striking focal point, while comfortable seating arrangements encourage gathering and relaxation.

The formal living room was reimagined as a sophisticated music room centered around the family’s grand piano. Rich wallpaper, custom drapery, and statement lighting add texture and elegance, creating a space that the family enjoys every day.

A former first-floor office with an ensuite bath was transformed into a versatile multipurpose guest suite. Custom cabinetry integrates a concealed Murphy bed, functional desk space, seating area, and gaming table, maximizing both flexibility and storage. A dramatic dark blue cork wallpaper ceiling, luxurious upholstery fabrics, and tailored window treatments introduce depth and quiet sophistication. Distinctive lighting fixtures and a two-way fireplace complete the design, creating a cozy retreat for both family time and visiting guests.

We knew we had achieved our goal when our client told us:

I recently had the pleasure of working with Meredith and her incredible team on decorating my entire house, and I couldn't be more delighted with the results. From the initial consultation to the final finishing touches, Meredith's expertise and attention to detail truly transformed my living space into a dream home.

Project Features and Highlights

In the multi-purpose room, custom cabinets feature a murphy bed and concealed desk area as well as ample storage space.

Throughout the space, luxurious fabrics and wallcoverings add color and texture, complemented by striking light fixtures, curated accents and custom art, resulting in a meticulously finished look.

For durability and aesthetics, the custom furniture is upholstered in performance fabrics that compliments the family’s collection of hand-knotted persian style rugs

To counteract the cavernous feeling of the two-story family room, we implemented ‘reverse’ wainscoting on the upper section, introducing a unique architectural element
